From the 18th to 29th of June, PELUM Swaziland was happy to host a two-week Permaculture Design Course training at the ACAT Training and Demonstration Unit in Mbuluzi.
30 Extension Officers Trained on Permaculture Design
A total of 30 extension officers and farmers from PELUM’s member organisations attended the training about how Permaculture can be a practical tool to combat climate change. The training was conducted by two facilitators from the Fambidzanai training centre in Zimbabwe, which is one of the longstanding Permaculture Training Centres in Africa.
The training was practically orientated, which enlightened the mind and allowed the participants to see land as a canvas for creativity. The training consisted of discussions, presentations, and practical activities, mostly while working in groups. Each morning started with classes on the theory of making compost, liquid manure, bee boxes, etc. In the afternoon the lessons were put into practice. While working in groups the participants discussed and shared information and ideas. The results of the practical workshop were then presented to the whole class.
